-Lincoln Park Restoration Work Party, 10AM-2PM

This West Seattle landmark is one of the city's largest and most popular parks. Its 135 acres are home to ball fields, playgrounds, trails, shoreline, and forest. We must act now to preserve the forests of the park for the enjoyment of future generations. Invasive species like English ivy and Himalayan blackberry are choking out native vegetation and are bringing early deaths to Lincoln's trees. Join EarthCorps, MudUp and the Green Seattle Partnership as we work to make the forests and shoreline of Lincoln Park healthy! Our projects will include invasive plant removal, preparing areas for planting native plants, and planting native plants.

-Island Crest Park Restoration Work Party, 10AM-2PM

Join EarthCorps and the City of Mercer Island Parks and Recreation Dept. in restoring this local park! This forested ravine hosts lush native plant habitat, wetlands, and walking trails. However, Island Crest Park is threatened by the spread of invasive plants, which uncontrolled, cover and kill trees, carpet the forest floor, and prevent the sprouting of tree seedlings. Volunteers are needed to help control these invasive plants, and preserve this unique open space! This fall the focus at Island Crest Park will be to plant native trees and continue site stewardship of previously restored areas. This project is part of a larger effort to restore Mercer Island Parks. Even working for just a few hours contributes greatly, and because you are working in a local park, you can revisit your work for years to come.

For more information or to sign up, please contact Lina Rose, Project Manager, at (206) 322-9296 or by e-mail at lina@earthcorps.org.
